Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device to remember preferences and improve your experience. Similar technologies include pixels, local storage, and tags.

• Required: always on, because the site cannot work without them. They keep you signed in (Supabase session), keep your session secure, remember theme and language, and store your cookie choice (smiletoai_consent, kept 182 days).
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and PostHog show us how the site is used. They run only if you allow Analytics; until then PostHog counts visits without storing anything on your device.
• Advertising: the Google Ads tag and the Meta pixel measure which ads lead to sign-ups. They load only if you allow Advertising.

• To keep you signed in and secure your session (required).
• To remember your language, theme, and cookie choice (required).
• To analyze traffic and usage, only if you allow Analytics.
• To measure the effectiveness of our advertising, only if you allow Advertising.

Besides our own required cookies, these providers set cookies or use similar storage on your device. Each has its own privacy policy.

• Google tag: Google Analytics 4 sets _ga, _ga_* and _gid and needs Analytics; Google Ads sets _gcl_* and needs Advertising. Nothing from the Google tag loads until you allow at least one of them.
• Meta pixel (Facebook/Instagram ads): _fbp and _fbc. Loaded only if you allow Advertising.
• PostHog (product analytics): if you allow Analytics, a ph_* cookie or local-storage entry. Before you answer, and unless you allow Analytics, PostHog sets nothing on your device and counts visits using a server-side hash.
• Required: Supabase sign-in session, theme and language preferences, and smiletoai_consent (your cookie choice, 182 days). Payment and authentication providers may also set their own cookies when you use those features.

When you first visit, a banner offers Accept all and Reject all, two buttons of the same size, so refusing takes one click. "Choose cookies" opens a screen with a switch for each category: Required (always on), Analytics (Google Analytics and PostHog) and Advertising (Google Ads and the Meta pixel). The two optional switches start off. Nothing optional loads until you allow it.

You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the site footer, which reopens the Choose cookies screen with your current answer. If you switch a category off, its tags stop and we delete its cookies from your browser: for Analytics _ga* and _gid; for Advertising _gcl_*, _fbp and _fbc. We ask again after 182 days or when we add a new tag to a category.

You can also refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. Disabling required cookies may affect core functionality such as signing in.

We may update this Cookie Policy. Material changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Please review periodically.
